Ordained a Bishop in apostolic succession on May 1, 1999, Bishop McLaughlin has established churches and congregations around the world. He was also the president and chancellor of a theological seminary in the United States and established theological seminaries and schools in Italy, Ghana, Kenya, India, and Venezuela.  He expanded his Anglican church jurisdiction to 1.5 million members by the time he retired in 2012. Bishop McLaughlin is the author and editor of several devotional works and seminary textbooks, and most recently the prayerbooks for The Church of Universal Compassion: Ascension and Immersion.

Dr. Eddy served as a Christian education director on the diocesan and national levels and was the academic dean of a theological seminary.  She continues to teach as a professor of world religions, facilitates workshops and small group studies, and is the author of Christian education curricula and most recently The Compassionist Path.   She is also the author and illustrator of several children's books.

For the past decade, we have conducted an intensive exploration of Jesus' teachings, ancient and modern spirituality, and people's needs today for loving communities and true spiritual transformation. We found the key to spirituality is the simple truth that God is Love - unconditional love. Using the expertise gleaned from our fifty years of combined experience in religious leadership, organizational development, education, and social change, we have developed contemporary teaching and practices that lead to more contentment, well-being, and peace. To distinguish this approach from others, we named this spiritual path "Compassionist."

We are excited about this ministry, and invite you to join us on the path to become a Compassionist!

The Church of Universal Compassion is a North Carolina non-profit corporation. We are organizationally independent of any other church or association.
